Meet the Counselors

Shiloh

Shiloh is a retired ranch horse enjoying his easier days out here at Compassion Corral. He joined us, here at Compassion Corral, in the spring of 2020. Shiloh is a quarter horse and is palomino in color with a white star on his forehead. Shiloh is a sweet and gentle horse who loves to be social, especially when treats are involved! Shiloh also has days that he loves to talk a lot, and when he does, it is a blast to listen to! In his off time, Shiloh loves to eat fresh, green grass, apples, and carrots; and that is just to name a few things! He also likes to clown around some times and thinks it is funny to sneak up on me when I am out in the pasture working on my own! Shiloh also enjoys a nice, refreshing roll in the mud after a fresh rain; the muddier, the better!

River

River came to us in late summer of 2022. We rescued him from an abused and neglected life. When we brought River home, he was severely malnourished and underweight. River was so weak he could barely stand. We pulled over 200 ticks off of him and took care of all of the internal parasites he was hosting. He even had the most unusual wooly coat of hair on him than I have ever seen on a horse. We put River on a very healthy diet, got him up to date on his vaccines, and gave him lots of love and care. Today, River is very healthy and loves life here at Compassion Corral. He now has a beautiful, normal, dark brown coat with a little white star on his forehead. River is a very sweet guy but is often very careful when interacting with people. Once he learns he is safe, River pours on his charm, and you just can’t help but to fall in love with him! As far as treats go, River loves just about anything he can get into his mouth! In his off time, River loves to forage for fresh, green grass, and enjoys sunbathing. Oh, and I cannot leave out that he too loves a good roll in fresh mud!
